jon paul fiorentino's a bundle of good ideas. he is the freshmaker. so last year, when he told me of his new publishing venture, snare books, i just beamed. jon paul fiorentino is a bundle of good ideas and he has tenacious follow-through. so this spring, when snare books released canada post by jason christie, i cartwheeled. jason christie's a bundle of good feelings. he is so fresh and so clean. so today, when jon paul fiorentino told me about the robert kroetsch award for innovative poetry, my nostrils filled with the steamy scent of laundry hot from the dryer.
there's no denying this is a tricky offering for a galumphian of reasons. but then, nothing ventured nothing gained...?

Hey Angela,
thanks for the fresh post. i definitely feel it's tricky, but only because the award's entry fee revenue may not cover the cost of printing the winning book. snare is not funded by the canada council or any other funding body. for snare to survive, it needs an alternate funding structure and the award will help achieve this. the kroetsch award is partially modelled after the walt whitman prize from LSU press. snare books will not make any money from this. and if there is a small profit it will be invested back in the press to publilsh more poetry.
