FEMALE VOICE: "The truth is people are pushed around by two men who move all the bodies on earth into patterns that please them."
MALE VOICE: "I love my mind when it is fucking the cracks of events."
MALE VOICE: "What I give to all the people who do not want to live with me is arithmetic."
FEMALE VOICE: "Everyday, I do nothing important because I am scared blank and lazy. But then the men come. I put my mouth on them. I spit and write with the wet."
MALE VOICE: "I was not born live. This body grew but I did not feel cells split."

can you tell me what Jenny Holzer text this is from?
thanks...
glad you asked, as perhaps someone else who reads this blog will have a more definite answer than mine... that said, i encountered these snippets several years ago, copied them into a notebook with the title laments scribbled on the side. holzer has an installation of the same name (circa 1989 or 1990) as well as a publication that reproduces the installation's inscriptions. i haven't seen a copy of the book, though some quick internet sleuthing informs me it's still in circulation and available for purchase.
long story long, i can't 100% confirm that the snippets i've posted on my blog are from laments; they may be from a different LED installation of hers, or even video... my memory's fuzzy.
anyone else know if this, in fact, from laments?
